Yoel Cubillas claims Salvadorean Liga MB weekly honour

Experienced Cuban Yoel Cubillas (204-F-1994) had a very impressive game in the last round for league's second-best San Salvador BC and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Liga MB Player of the Week award for round 20.
The 31-year old forward had a double-double of 34 points and 22 rebounds, while his team beat Santa Ana (#6, 9-10) 93-80. San Salvador maintains the 2nd position in Salvadorean Liga MB. They are still close to the very top. San Salvador would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 15-3 record. In the team's last game Cubillas had a remarkable 54.5% from 2-point range. He turned to be San Salvador's top player in his first season with the team. Cubillas has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (2nd best: 25.3ppg), rebounds (4th best: 15.9rpg) and averages solid 2.5bpg,2.3spg and 68.2% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Colombian center John Hernandez (207-C-1984) of Santiagueno BC. Hernandez impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 32 points and 25 rebounds. Bad luck as Santiagueno lost that game 86-126 to the higher-ranked A.Lobos (#3, 14-3). Santiagueno is still in a red zone at 10th spot in the standings. 14 lost games are too many comparing to just four victories Santiagueno managed to get this year. Hernandez is a newcomer at Santiagueno and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 21.9ppg (#9). He also registered 23.3 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was Guatemalan Lee Vasquez (173-PG) of MC El Brasil Santa Ana (#6). Vasquez got into 30-points club by scoring exactly 30 points in the last round. He went also for eleven rebounds and fifteen assists. He was a key player of Santa Ana, leading his team to a 96-85 win against slightly higher-ranked Cojute (#5, 9-9). The chances of Santa Ana ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 10 games, recording just nine victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Vasquez could help Santa Ana to bring them higher in the standings. Vasquez has a great season in El Salvador. After 12 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 28.8ppg (best scorer) and assists with 6.6apg (2nd best). He also has 2.3spg, a FGP of 53.8% and 3PT: 41.5%.
